Job Description

  • Recruit, screen, interview and hire qualified Driver applicants to improve Driver retention and safety standards.
  • Proactively seek out, interview, and screen applicants to fill existing openings while maintaining current knowledge of transportation laws, DOT regulations, and Company hiring criteria, as well as maintaining and promoting Company safety goals.
  • Offer Driver applicants the most current information. Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Interview, gather, and analyze information skillfully to obtain a complete application and pre-qualify applicants.
  • Read, review, and understand both MVRs and DAC Reports
  • Attain individual and team recruiting goals.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, representing the organization to customers, the public, vendors, schools, and other external sources in a positive and professional manner.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Education & Skills

  • High School Diploma/GED, Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience in the recruitment of commercial drivers.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and problem solving skills, thorough and detail oriented, self–motivated and good interpersonal skills, constantly maintain a professional appearance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Effectively communicates internally with Operations, Safety and terminal staff and externally with potential applicants and vendors.
  • Technical Experience: Proficient with Microsoft Office and personal computer skills, electronic mail, recruiting database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Preferred McLeod software knowledge.
  • Office Skills: Proficient typing and filing skills.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
